Starfield loading screen simulator can't be saved with expansion.
Honestly. I love your channel BUT ITS embarrassing you forgot that Star Wars galaxies was the first open world stars game AND it was an MMO which made it even better.
Starfield really wanted to capitalize on No Man's Sky's infinite procedural generation system, but they completely forgot their own strengths as a video game developer. They are best at making good single player stories and detailed, uniquely crafted game worlds. Todd made a name for himself with his dream of making a game where you can pick up absolutely anything from the environment that wasn't nailed down. Old games were on rails back in the late 80s and early 90s. You had fixed perspective arcade environments to keep the rendering load on early tech low. People developed a hunger to be able to go over to an obscure corner and pick up something none essential to the current quest. When the first open world games came out that let you do this, it blew people's minds and that's how Bethesda became the gaming juggernaut that it is today. But they can't evolve on this initial good idea, unfortunately. The market is flooded with open world games now and this forced them to try to create a procedural generation game. Except that is not what they're good at. They still need a story rich, detailed environment that is inside little pre-crafted fish bowl maps, so the whole thing becomes a disjointed mess of multiple games merged into one. Game flow is near non existent. Old games could do much better flow despite the heavy restrictions on what could be accomplished. It all comes down to how you want to entertain your players. Will you craft a narrative for them to go through or will you let them roam around without a leash and enjoy themselves that way? It's difficult to use the two together, because when free roam interacts with the pre-scripted, funny, broken experiences emerge. You need a lot of complexity and coding to ensure a stable experience. They just don't have the time to make the games they think we need anymore.
people still play Starfield?
Menace been on my wishlist since it was announced, it's made by the guys who made Battle Brothers which is a fantastic (if graphically basic) dark fantasy mercenary warband management game.
a good space game is one where you can freely fly in and out of a plants atmosphere without loading screens. Example Star Citizen
Doesn't Warframe count as a space game ?
Star Trucker might possibly scratch that itch, but thats it as far as Im concerned.
I just want Starflight updated.. 😄
So basically "Starfield Oblivion"
You could very well, had included "Sins of a Solar Empire 2". Just released on steam. I am an old hardcore RTS-player, in space strategy, and this one, really made me addicted. Think you will like it to.
I'm super excited for the Starfield Expansion. They've made the base game a ton better already, I'm assuming the DLC will be loaded with some small stuff as well.
Although a couple of titles look promising, it is safe to conclude that the ‘Golden Age’ of space titles is unfortunately over…
starfield hahahaha more of cringe, boring and repetitive bs…. no thank you
Hooded Horse keeps bringing great games. I have zero complaints.
Great video. Some games I already have or have wish-listed, but because of this video I wish-listed:
Beyond Galaxyland
Beyond These Stars
Falling Frontier
Capital Command
Fragile Existence
Nebulous Fleet Command? I don't know… Didn't seem cloudy or poorly defined at all to me.
Terra Invicta?? but… uh, that game released 2 years ago?
The reason the devs of Nebulous Fleet Commands are keen to distance the game from The Expanse is because it plays nothing like the show. The game gets a lot of negative reviews from players feeling fleeced after various media unfortunately made the comparison from superficial elements.
Shattered Space will decide if Starfield dies or survives…
Blockchain is an environmental disaster disguised as money.
The space ETS @_@!! i want!!
The Terra Invicta developers were the folks that did the Long War mod for XCOM (Pavonis Interactive), and Terra Invicta actually plays like a massively expanded strategy level version of the whole UFO/XCOM game, without the ground-based turn-based combat system, but with space combat.
What's the point of listening to you? There's no real criticism, your script is more like advertisement.
Too bad Menace is going to be turn-based. I would like to see a cross between RTS Space Marines and something like Ground Control.
I hear NFT, I hit skip immediately. Scammers, all of them.
Sad that there are no news about exodus.
Dear games industry,
enough with the space strategy games already!
I want to be in the cockpit of a fighter in epic fleet battles and not looking at spreadsheets or micromanaging the fleet. About the only one on this list that generates a ripple of interest is the Everspace 2 expansion. The NFT game had me interested right up until the letters NFT got mentioned, sounds like a dodgy scam.
No Sins of a solar Empire 2 it just came out on Steam?
Has Starfield been fixed yet?
I've been anticipating Falling Frontier, I hope it's as good as it looks.
NFT game? Star Wars bs? Lost interest in the entire list right then and there if its the quality bar for this list. AAA gaming landscape really is abysmal under JB as POTUS
Fuck this Star Wars game and all of Ubisoft bs
Space Nation looks pretty interesting.
If it applies to you, it applies to us all!
Absolutely NONE of these look good to me.
Played through a long Terra Invicta campaign, the game is very good but quite complex at the start. There is a lot of focus on the space economy and fleets/bases/stations in the mid to late game.
Menace looks awesome!
"Star wars outlaws, should be given a chance." Did someone get paid for that?
I don't like any of these except falling frontier. Nebulous would be good but I already have a job and don't want to spend 1000 hours to learn how to send a ship from A to B.
I tried to like Everspace2 so much, but I just couldn't set the commands the way I'd have liked them to be. Made me drop the game sadly.
Terra Invictus looks to be the only standout game for me this year.
space marine 2???? dude wtf how can u not talking about space marine 2
Nothing that takes my fancy. There is nothing out there that scratches that space itch since Elite Dangerous. I am somewhat limited due to playing on Xbox.
Star Wars Outlaws 🙁 so sad what they've done to SW.
Chapters! Thanks. Make it a habit please.
Great review as always thanks
Blockchain seems like another word for avoid.
Ive been waiting for Capital Command and Falling frontier for a while. Im also tentatively following Fragile Existence and Menace.
I already own Nebulous (cant get into it, its very good but also gard and not easy to get into) and Terra invicta (Great fun, but not for everyone)
With mentioning these, im surprised you didnt mention Sins of a Solar Empire 2 at all which just released and everything i ever wanted from Sins 1, with lots to come.
Sorry, ubisoft , burn me 3 times shame on me.. I'll get your games on sale. Thank you
still have not finished 1/4 of starfield yet.. never had the time/motivation
